Terms of Service

By using Keparat.my ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Keparat.my. The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

2. Accounts

You may use Keparat.my anonymously for up to 5 translations per day. Beyond that, you'll be asked to sign in with Google or Facebook via OAuth. We do not store passwords. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the social account you use to sign in.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our sole discretion, with or without prior notice.

3. User content and license

You retain ownership of any text you submit ("Content"). By submitting Content and marking it public, you grant Keparat.my a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to display, reproduce, distribute, and feature your Content within the Service and in promotional materials related to the Service.

You may mark any submission as private, in which case only you can see it (and the Keparat.my operators, for abuse investigation purposes only).

4. Prohibited content

You may not submit content that:

• Contains hate speech, racial or religious slurs, or incitement to violence
• Discloses personal data of yourself or others (Malaysian IC numbers, phone numbers, home addresses, email addresses)
• Defames or targets identifiable real persons by name
• Is illegal under Malaysian law (including but not limited to Penal Code Section 298A and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 Section 233)
• Infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
• Constitutes spam, mass automation, or bulk submissions from scripts

5. Moderation

We reserve the right to remove content, hide it from public view, suspend accounts, or ban IP addresses at our sole discretion. We make no guarantee of response time for moderation requests. If you believe content on the Service violates these Terms, use the in-product report function or email us at [email protected].

6. Third-party AI processing disclosure

Your input is processed by a third-party AI service (DeepSeek) to generate translations. Do not submit confidential, personal, or sensitive information. When you submit text to Keparat.my, a copy of that text is sent to DeepSeek's API for processing. We do not control DeepSeek's data handling practices beyond what is specified in their terms of service.

We also pass the text through third-party infrastructure providers including Supabase (database storage), DigitalOcean (application hosting), and Cloudflare (content delivery and bot protection). See our Privacy Policy for details.

7. Intellectual property

The Keparat.my name, logo, brand identity, visual design, and underlying software are owned by the Service operator. You may not copy, mirror, or redistribute the Service without written permission. The content of our Glossary is made available under the same site-use terms as the rest of the Service.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant the accuracy or appropriateness of the AI-generated translations. Do not rely on Keparat.my output for legally binding communication without human review.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Malaysian law, the Service operator's total liability arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed RM100 or the amount you have paid us (whichever is greater). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from your use of the Service shall be settled by the courts of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the Service with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
